Legislation and guidelines
On the 25th June 2002, Directive 2002/44/EC on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (vibration) was published in the official Journal of the European Communities.
This directive specifies an action level of 2.5 m/s2 and a limit level of 5 m/s2 for each other hand arm vibration exposure, based on the sum of 3-axes vibration - often referred to as 'root-sum-of-squares','rss' or 'vector sum' and came into force throughout the EEC from 6th July 2005.
